Four miles beyond the river valley is the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, crowned by the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Richmond Inn is conveniently located near the heart of North Carolina's "High Country." Within a half-hour or so drive are some of North Carolina's top scenic attractions: Grandfather Mountain, one of the world's oldest mountains; Beech and Sugar mountain, the South's largest resorts; Roan Mountain, the world's largest rhododendron gardens; and Linville Caverns, North Carolina's only known caverns. Linville falls and Linville Gorge Wilderness Area, the deepest cut in the earth's surface east of the Grand Canyon, along with the Appalachian Trail, offer the outdoor enthusiast hiking in some of North America's most scenic trailways.
